The MQ-135 sensor works based on the principle of a gas-sensitive semiconductor layer made of SnO2 (tin dioxide). When the target gas is present, the conductivity of the semiconductor layer changes. This change in conductivity can be measured and converted into an electrical signal that corresponds to the concentration of the gas.
