Assembly

The board comes with all surface-mount parts pre-soldered. For breadboard use, the included header-strip should be soldered on:

1,Prepare the header strip
Cut the supplied header strip to length and insert it long-pins-down in your breadboard to hold it for soldering.

2,Position the breakout board
Place the breakout board on the header pins.

3,Solder each pin for a good electrical connection.

Wiring

1,Power
First connect VDD and GND. These boards will work with eithera 3.3v or a 5v supply. The diagram below shows connection to the Arduine 5v pin.

2,I2C Connections
I2C requiresjust 2 pins to communicate. These can be shared with other I2C devices. For R3 and later Arduinas (induding MEGA and DUE models), connect SDA-> SDA and SCL->SCL.

3,I2C “Classic”
For older Arduing boards without dedicated SDA and SCL pins, connect as shown below.

4,I2C Addressing
The ADS11x5 chips have a base 7-bit I2C address of 0x48 (1001000) and a clever addressing scheme that allows four different addresses using just one address pin (named ADR for ARdRess). To program the address, connect the address pin as follows:
●0 x 48 (1001000) ADR -> GND
●0 x 49 (1001001) ADR -> VDD
●0 x 4A (1001010)ADR -> SDA
●0 x 4B (1001011)ADR -> SCL
The following diagram shows one board addressed as 0 x 48:

5,Multiple Boards
By assigning each board a different address, up to 4 boards can be connected as below:

Introduction

For microcontrollers without an analog-to-digital converter or when you want a higher-precision ADC, the ADS1115 provides 16-bit precision at 860 samples/second over I2C.The chip can be configured as 4 single-ended input channels, or two differential channels.As a nice bonus, it even includes a programmable gain amplifier, up to x16, to help boost up smaller single/differential signals to the full range. We like this ADC because it can run from 2V to 5V power/logic, can measure a large range of signals and its super easy to use.It is a great general purpose 16 bit converter.

The chip’s fairly small so it comes on a breakout board with ferrites to keep the AVDD and AGND quiet. Interfacing is done via I2C. The address can be changed to one of four options,so you can have up to4 ADS1115’s connected on a single 2-wire I2C bus for 16 single ended inputs.
