Introduction

The TPS54160A, a 60-V, 1.5-A step-down regulator with an integrated high-side MOSFET, utilizes current mode control for simplified external compensation and flexible component selection. A low ripple pulse skip mode reduces the no-load regulated output supply current to 116 μA, with the shutdown supply current decreasing to 1.3 μA when the enable pin is utilized.

The under-voltage lockout, internally set at 2.5 V, is adjustable through the enable pin. The slow start pin, configurable for sequencing/tracking, governs the output voltage startup ramp. An open-drain power good signal indicates the output is within 94% to 107% of its nominal voltage.

Featuring a wide switching frequency range, the TPS54160A allows optimization of efficiency and external component size. Frequency foldback and thermal shutdown provide protection during overload conditions.
