Supercapacitor is divided into double layer capacitor and pseudocapacitor. It is a new type of energy storage device, which is characterized by high power density, short charging time, long service life, good temperature characteristics, energy saving and green environmental protection.
Supercapacitor can be charged and discharged quickly, and the peak current is only limited by its internal resistance, even a short circuit is not fatal. The resistance of supercapacitors prevents them from discharging quickly, the time constant τ of supercapacitors is 1-2s, and it takes about 5τ to completely discharge a resistive-capacitive circuit, that is to say, if short-circuited, it takes about 5-10s (due to the special structure of the electrodes, they actually take several hours to completely release the residual charge).
