Description

28BYJ-48 Stepper motor is an open-loop control motor which converts pulse signal into angular displacement or linear displacement. It is the main executive component of modern digital program control system and is widely used.

Characteristics

• Generally, the accuracy of stepper motor is 3% – 5% of the stepper angle and does not accumulate
• The allowable temperature limit of stepper motor surface.
• The torque of stepping motor will decrease with the increase of speed.
• The stepping motor can work normally at low speed.

Features

1: The stepper motor can only operate with driving signal. When there is no pulse, the stepper motor will be stationary. If appropriate pulse signal is added, it will rotate with angle(called step angle). The speed of rotation is proportional to the frequency of the pulse.
2: Stepper motor has the characteristics of instant start and rapid stop.
3: The direction of rotation can be easily changed by changing the pulse sequence.

Driving Method

Stepper motor can not be directly connected to power frequency AC or DC power supply to work, using a special stepper motor driver, which is composed of pulse generation control unit, power drive unit, protection unit, etc. The driving unit is directly coupled with the stepping motor, which can also be understood as the power interface of the stepping motor microcomputer controller.

Driving Requirements

1. It can provide fast rising and flling speed of current, and make current wave type warp close to rectangle. There is a circuit for releasing current during the cut-off period to reduce the back EMF at both ends of the winding and speed up the current attenuation.
2.  It has high power and efficiency. Stepping motor speed and pulse signal frequency, you can speed the motor.
